Wow, I'm very impressed by the cable management you pulled off. That's making me jealous.

Oh yeah, about the PSU, hope it works out. Even if not, no big loss if it blows (and doesn't take everything with it)!

I've seen some real quality PSu lately, seems like some flea market guy is selling and installing them for $25 bucks. PowMax my favorite (money maker replacing parts after they tank)

If it lasts a month it'll probably last a decent while. Considering you wouldn't mind getting a replacement computer you'll probably have to will it to the grandkids.

I have a SolyTech 480, shows bad on an elcheepo PSu tester, but shows true on a voltmeter, I pulled it for testing but I suspect it's time for a new PSU tester, I got the error after I used the PSu tester to jump start a PSU and run leak testing like 3 times it got pretty hot a couple of times.

I think both jonnyguru.com and hardwaresecrets.com recently did reviews of no-name, budget PSUs. Some did well, but poorly designed for systems that rely on the 12V rail, others not so...

Since it's lasted for over a month, why don't you try Folding on it? I'm pretty sure that will test the limits of your PSU.

yea I bet it will last a while, I bought a cheap $30 one from newegg and it's survived rigorous testing from overclocking memory, chipset, and cpu voltages not to mention a 9 series card. It's amazing the quality you get for some things under $50 compared to 5 years ago.
