Photoshop

Post by Telpelin »

So I'm needing a laptop for school. And I would really like it to run Photoshop decently. As in, it will load in less than five minutes. And let me use the brush tool without making the screen blank out for two minutes, then refresh, and have my tablet's amazing powers be nullified by being retardedly slow and making all my lines STRAIGHT instead of CURVED... :evil: *sigh*

but i digress.

so can any of you purportedly brilliant peoples point me in the right direction? also if it could run the sims 2 that would be pretty nice :D

and if this is in the wrong category, im not surprised, and sorry in advance

You'll want a Core2Duo for sure, and an 8600GT-M. 2GB (even 4GB) of RAM would be good. I run Photoshop CS3 on 2GB RAM on my laptop without issue, although it certainly likes more. I'd say go for Dell's Outlet Store to save money (avoid Scratch 'N Dent, those have really obvious cosmetic defections). If you want a new machine, personally I'm a Dell guy but I won't take a blood oath to the company...
Play
Q6600 @ 3.2GHz :: 8GB DDR2-800 :: eVGA 9800GX2 :: 7900GTX (secondary) :: abit IP35 Pro :: 150GB Raptor 10k RPM :: 2x750GB WD Caviar :: 120GB WD :: X-Fi XtremeMusic :: NEC 4551A :: BenQ DVD Combodrive (52x32x52) :: Dual 22" Acer AL2216W :: Thermaltake Armor Black :: Logitech Z5500 5.1

Work
Core 2 Duo @ 2.53GHz :: 4GB DDR3 @ 1067MHz :: 3670 :: Intel PM45 Chipset :: 500GB 5400RPM SATA :: Integrated Audio :: BD-ROM/DVD Burner :: 16" 1920x1080 RGBLED

I'd also suggest a C2D from Dell and 4Gb of RAM if you like your graphics programs fast :P

Other than that, Dell should be able to set you up nicely.

The Dell laptop in my sig will easily run photoshop and the Sims 2.

Who cares about bloatware, just do what I always do...reinstall the OS as soon as it arrives. :mrgreen:

I picked it up from the Dell outlet store a while back and have had no issues as of yet.

I'll second that, just don't let Ian near it :P jk, jk...

Seriously though, you can get a killer laptop with that whitebook builder for under a grand (just install your own OS), only thing is you have to assemble it yourself, which I'm sure your bro would be more than happy to do...that's probably the route I'll go when I need a laptop.

Telpelin what tablet do you use? I'm going to start back up drawing again here in the near future and thinking about trying out digital side of it.

I'm leaning towards a wacom Intuos3 6x8.
