Bf2142 wide screen support

Post by smack323 »

I was happy to see the 1.5 update now supports wide screen.. but when i went into video options i did not get my desired resolution. so here is how you do it:

you have to Right click the 2142 icon on your desktop and select properties. Now where it says Target change what says:
E:\2142\BF2142.exe +menu 1 +fullscreen 1
to:
E:\2142\BF2142.exe +playNow 1 +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050

Put what your max screen reselution in the place of my 1680 and 1050. All lower case and use all the spaces and plus signs.
apply.

load game and play make sure it worked. Under video in the game will still say its max screen size but it will be the max you put in.

This is good to know.

One question though: Do you have to be connected to the internet to play this game? I have the original battlefield 2 and the expansions required you to be signed into your account to play.

I would like to get this game for single player matches now that it is only $20, but I do not have a constant internet connection.

I am pretty sure you do. I have never tried though. The first thing it does when it starts is requires you to sign in.

I was hoping not. Does it give you the option to sign in as "Player 1" or annonymous without having to access the internet?

nope, but my friend was telling me the other day how he was able to get it working without connecting.. basically so people could play at a LAN party. I wasnt really paying attention to all the logistics of it. I'll ask him this weekend if i see him and let you know. It was a work around of some sort.

i will try this when i get home. i hate how it distorts the screen because they thought WS was a advantage to certain players so EA left it out.

the game is still great even after several years. I still play BF2 all the time too.

So why didn't they just make the only resolution 600X480 so everyone could play evenly no matter what size their monitor is? That is a really bad idea on EA's part if they left out widescreen for this reason.

yeah that what people were flaming the EA message boards with. yeah it give you an advantage barely.- i would say my video card and RAM gives me the biggest advantage over someone who has the bare min system requirements. but they didnt make the game to only run on certian hardware so it made no sense to not support wide screen monitors.

another tool thats important to use is widescreenfixer:
http://www.imk.cx/pc/widescreenfixer/
even though forcing the widescreen resolution makes it the native resolution, the FOV is not properly adjusted for widescreen
