Anyone here running Athlon64's? If so, which motherboard are you using?

I don't have one actually, but if you are in search for one, the Asus K8V Deluxe gets some good reviews! Lot's of options too.

K8T NEO-FSR .... Im looking at a combo for that one, along with the 3200+64. Its 399 vs 439 with the asus k8v board.... They also have an abit board kv8 for 411. All I do is game, so which is better? I have no clue...

MSI usually does a good job of keeping the layout simple and making the bios oc'able.

TO ALL OF YOU: i would just hold tight for 2 more mths until socket 939 comes out and then buy. All the sites i read recomend this and the new chipsets that have been introduced (nforce3 250gb, via 800 pro) are designed for the new socket. save your $$ now and get the benifits soon.

You are right, waiting is the thing to do at this moment, with the upcoming 939 socket. However, prices are likely to be high with a new introduction. So it will take another few months before they become affordable and/or production volumes are high enough to reach your local dealer.

Genuine: very true, if people are hurting for $$ or need an immidate upgrade the go for it, but if your planing a big upgrade hold out.

I have an AMD64-3400 that I enjoy with a Gigabyte k8vnxp.

The board is rock solid stable, and I would recommend it to anyone and defend the lack of a agp/pci lock.

That's the one I have Alister. I knew of the coming 939 platform with dual channel support. You have a trade off though, the current 754's offer 1 meg l2 cache with some of the processors.

Some programs will benifit from this cache as much as higher memory bandwidth.

I wasn't happy waiting for 939, although I could have. What made up my mind was the acceptance of the fact that I would not die if the board wasn't a big overclocker, and that even with the 754-3400... the system would have longlegs. By that I mean that it would last me into the future with satisfactory performance for at least 2-3 years.

Running Asrock K8 Combo-Z. It wil take a 754 or 939 AMD 64.
