Hello!
I'm trying to understand the performance difference between these two processors: Xeon 5140 & Xeon E5410?
The Xeon 5140: 65nm, 4MB cache, 2,33GHz CS, 1333MHz FSB, Dual-core, $500
The Xeon E5410: 45nm, 12MB cache, 2,33GHz CS, 1333MHz FSB, Quad-core, $275
How would those two compare? the E5410 is 45% cheaper, while being a quad-core and 45nm technology. I'm confused!
Thanks.

Both are Server Chips, socket 771, can't use in a Desktop Board

The 5140 is probably old stock from before the E5140 was released. Newegg bought it at that price and so don't want to loose lots of money from selling it at a lower price.
The E5140 is better in every respect, but some motherboards might only support the 5140 if their BIOS hasn't been updated.
So if your board supports the E5140, go for that.
