need software for music

Post by skier »

the music on my mp3 player is all over the place in terms of db level, are there any programs to equalize all songs so i don't have to worry about changing the volume so i don't get rediculous bass on some songs, and scratchy treble on others

stereo setup is this: mp3 player->PC speakers in my room-> 30 year old stereo reciever-> ~60' of speaker wire going outside to our deck-> two 2.5' tall speaker boxes with 10" Subs, 6.5" midranges and 3" tweeters, all speakers are brand new(duct tape speakers can only do so much  )

A lot of people seem to have had success with this:

I've used MP3 Gain for years. Swear by it. Really easy and makes using headphones (iPOD etc...) easier on the eardrums!

Set the target db in mp3gain higher?

The only trouble then is that you run the risk of the songs clipping that are already pretty loud.

i had used mp3 gain in the past, but this time, i set it 2db lower than normal(to make sure they are the same at least) i havent tried it through my stereo yet, but from mp3 converted thru media player and playing during NFS PROSTREET it was pretty equal across the board :)

Yet another unasked question answered!

I know what you mean. When my wife and I are working out in the yard or garden, I turn my Klipsch speakers to face out the window and crank it up. Then something like Rob Zombie or Stevie Ray Vaughn that was recorded 20 dB louder than everything else rattles the windows, scares the pee out of the dog and clips horribly. 400w of distortion is pretty gnarly.

Thanks again guys!
