Well built a 6600 Quad yesterday with an evga 9600 GT card and downloaded the SMP client and started folding on it. I was running out of time but downloaded the GPU client and managed to get it going right before i left. this morning my SMP is at about 55% and i opened the log for the GPU and find 5 units completed
havent checked the stats yet, but i was a bit suprised by that.
No kidding, I'll have 8 cores if my damn work machine every shows up. But I have a feeling DMB will still be out performing me. Martini, even if me and you combined forces we'd still be down. I think I need to write something up for the folding war this weekend. I'll ask Nate if we can advertise it on the front page. Give people a week to sign up
Ive always had concerns with folding on all my computers just because I am afraid what its going to do to my electric bill. I currently have at home a e6600 w/ 8800gts 512mb, e6750 w/8800gs 320mb and PS3- and leaving one this equipment 24/7 seems like it might cause some issues down the road(repairs/breaks) I just set up to start folding on my work computer but they got me chugging along on a p4 2.4ghz so its not doing to much folding to say the least.. I will give it a run for a month at home and see if it puts me in the poor house.
Also, I belive with the 8800 cards i have i can fold with the GPU client correct? Can i also run a client the runs off of the CPU at the same time? I have been looking on the Stanford foldin site and i am not exactly sure what client to use for GPU folding if it is possible. Can someone help me out with that?
Core i5-6500 - Corsair Vengence 16GB DDR4 2133 - MSI 2080Ti - Antec 750W - Crucial 525GB SSD - Windows 10 64bit - ASUS 32" LED
It's actually not very much maybe $5-$10 a month per computer (TV Announcer: that's LESS THAN $.50 PER DAY!!). Just remember that even at full load your computer won't be pulling the PSU rating so you'll either have to estimate or use something that measures the watts being pulled at the wall. Anybody have a good number for average watts being pulled at the wall while folding? http://www.handymath.com/cgi-bin/electr ... bmit=Entry
