HD2900XT 512mb problem or not?

Hey

A friend of my formated his computer cause he had problems with his vista, so he installed his old xp home.
Everything is fine and his computer works good, he installed the latest ati driver for HD2900XT 512mb.
The next morning he wants to start up his computer and when he is about to get to his desktop his screen gets black and his screen is still active.
Did anybody had this before? or knows how to solve this ?
He tried to get in bios and he gets the same thing.

Try installing a spare video card and see if it does the same thing. If you are able to get into windows with the spare card, uninstall the video drivers and make sure the correct ones were downloaded. Then try the problematic video card and see if you can make it into windows to install the correct drivers.
