2008 Mustang GT Conversion to a Shelby GT500 KR
A buddy of mine came over to look at my wrecked SRT-4 ACR yeserday and brought by his 2008 Ford Mustang GT. He took a stock Mustang GT and changed out the entire front end and all the wheels and tires for factory Ford parts on the Shelby GT500 KR.
I think it looks great and I wasn't able to tell the front clip wasn't painted at the factory and all the lines match up perfectly. The car is sweet and all the parts are Ford, so you really can't tell the difference. The wheels alone took him 6 months to get as the waiting list is that long and they are over $4500 for a set of four.
he basically has the same car as this now minus the $550,000 price tag... lol

Re: 2008 Mustang GT Conversion to a Shelby GT500 KR
Pretty sweet!
I had two Mustangs 1 Cherry Red SVO in '85 and a dove gray '89 GT. I don't find myself getting too excited over cars anymore but I just LOVE the new Mustangs--especially the Shelbys.
(You know they got it right when Carroll Shelby looked at the specs and said "Hell yeah you can use my name on it!!") They look more like the original than any other incarnation. The new Camaros are pretty badass too.
Glad you're feeling better!

only noticeable differences are the SHELBY letters on the hood and the bottom grille section, but the cobra tags are all you need

The engines are different too though right?
Looks pretty cool, though the front end looks a little bulbous compared to the sideskirts.

Now if only it had the power to get out from behind an SRT4 or Mazdaspeed 3.

Just an update on this car... This is why you don't let your tires get bald... No those aren't racing slicks on the back... My friend was driving to work, a spring storm popped up a couple weeks back, and he lost control and went head on into the highway divider...

Shelby GT500 KR: Supercharged 5.4L = 540 HP (and the insurance bill to go along with it!)vicaphit wrote:The engines are different too though right?
GT: 4.6L = 300 HP
Awesome job on the clone car. I've got a '93 GT (for insurance purposes) with a few aftermarket goodies to put the hurt on the real '93 Cobra, but I'd much rather have the 2009 Shelby!

Good thing he didn't spring for the actual Shelby GT500!

Did the front rims survive? I have a 06 Mustang GT that would look sweet with them.

One is being replaced... The car isn't totaled and is actually already back on the street fixed with an entire new front clip and all.pwcmed wrote:Did the front rims survive? I have a 06 Mustang GT that would look sweet with them.
Those wheels are not cheap... Think they were $1500 or something crazy each.
