Hapy trails, Everybody!

Post by unfaithfulsfan »

I'm off for a week's visit at my mom's in Mississippi. This time tomorrow I'll be gorging myself on her famous pork chops steamed in sauerkraut with apples (a recipe she picked up while living in Germany). She may be almost 86 but she can still cook, my friends. Also on the menu are homemade biscuits and tomato gravy (a Southern specialty); fresh pecan pie with pecans harvested from the surviving pecan trees (after Katrina); fresh peach pie made from fruit picked from the trees in her back yard; chicken fried steak; fresh cracklin' bread; and real honest-to-God Southern Fried Chicken!!!!
Anybody else hungry?

Sorry all you sterotypes, no chit'lins in fatback and possum gravy. although I have tried them (chitterlings, not fatback and possum gravy :vom:. *shudder*) Actually they weren't bad, it's just the thought. Like menudo.

Have a good rest of the week , weekend and start of next week!

I have a feeling that I am putting on weight doing the 100 pushups. Though my stomach looks like it is flattening out a bit!

Have fun on vacation!

I would rather weigh 190 and be muscular than weigh 180 and be flabby... keep that in mind when you are eating that gravy.

No, she lives more on the Eastern side of the state. About an hour North of Biloxi/Gulfport. (Katrina had a lot of fun on her land)

Got back yesterday and actually was relieved to get back out of the 95+ temps with 95+ humidity and very little rain. It was a cool visit tho, pardon the pun. At one point there were 5 generations of my family represented-My mother, my brother and I, my niece, two great-nieces, two great-nephews and my great-great niece who's about 4 months old and the first of her generation. That was pretty awesome to think about.

Welcome back!

I hate that kind of weather. We get that in Ohio during the summer. It sucks!
