FX-57 Reviews

Post by LVCapo »

Maybe its just me, but I was a bit underwhelmed klooking around at the reviews today. I understand everyone probably just got their review sample last week, but I'd rather be a day behind everyone else and put out a comprehensive review of the most anticipated processor in awhile (no offense to the X2 or Pentium D). I was especially disappointed that most reviews were fairly vanillain their overclocking segments, and almost all interchangeable.

Agreed, it's like 1 person wrote a review and sent it to all these sites to publish.
Show us the difference in overclocks with the stock HSF, a high end cooler such as an XP-120, and a decent water-cooling kit. How about showing us if performance with a 7800GTX scales linearly with the FX-57 compared to FX-53/4000+ and FX-55? Since this new card is bottlenecked by the CPU at 16x12 in a lot of situations how much does the FX-57 improve that? How much does it improve performance of an SLI solution since there is more CPU overhead? In the HardOCP review they don't even say what video card they used.
I remember in a couple of reviews they mentioned that the memory controller is improved and tell you in what ways it's claimed but no data anywhere to be seen.

Sorry for the rant, the cookie cutter reviews must be getting to me.

no, no problem. I'm glad someone else had the same impression as me. Show us where this processor is different, show us why we want to or don't want to buy it.
I totally agree, it looks like one person wrote the articleand sent it to 10 different sites.
I also wish AMD was a little more liberal with their ES CPUs, we keep asking, and they keep telling us "Maybe next time"....oh well.

I stand corrected...Tech report was the only one to do ANY tests on the 7800GTX. They completed 2 tests with 7800GTX SLI and the results aren't too bad. This is compared to a 4000+.
