I have the Lite-On drive and I think it's an excellent choice..not sure of the other one FZ1 posted on the link but can't be too bad if it's Sony

Re: Need A Blu-Ray Drive For HTPC
I have had absolutely no problems with the Pioneer BDC-2202. You would need to check with the Pioneer website to make sure it is compatable with the SATA chipset going to be used and PowerDVD has no problems recognizing it.

Re: Need A Blu-Ray Drive For HTPC
I know you said HTPC and AFIK the above linked drives are good.
I think I'm going to get one of these though (supports just about everything)

Expensive if you just need to play Blu-Ray movies though

Re: Need A Blu-Ray Drive For HTPC
If you really need one then I would go with LG. I am still waiting because I think Blue-Ray doesn't have the consumer behind it yet. I don't think it is ready for prime time, even if the prices are dropping. Most people are buying dvd players that upscale to 1080p.

Re: Need A Blu-Ray Drive For HTPC
so far I'm very happy with my $125 purchase as I've played DVD's, Blu Ray and HD-DVD's with the LG player and it works great. I ran all three movie formats with PowerDVD 7.3 Ultra and they all looked great.
Here is a picture as I'm from the show me state and I really did order one in.

Agreed 'bout the Egg. Ordered yesterday (thanks for the tip camaroguy, saved me $15) shipped this AM.camaroguy1998 wrote:I was going to be a hold out but I just couldn't resist!

Was planning on using WMP but I guess that's a no-go (at least for full compatibility) so I ordered this (seemed like the best options for the price):
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 81620017SF
Maybe I'll like this better than my Nero 7. I'm not doing an HTPC (yet) and just wanting to do HD-DVD and BD on my 1080p Gateway. Went out and got "Stargate Continuum" on Blu-Ray today and am looking forward to this as a gift:

Think I'll do a quick "user review" when the LG arrives on my doorstep
