NVIDIA GPU folders-Free ppd increase!

Post by Bwall »

Pretty simple and effective ppd increase thanks to the latest .exe from Stanford.

If you have an existing GPU folding installation simply stop the client (don't pause it, do a full stop/quit). If you are using the normal client you just need to go to start, program files, folding@home-gpu and click on the "data files only". Once there delete Fah_Core11.exe. Close the window and start your gpu folding again, it will download the latest and greatest.

Stanford is reporting 6-11% increase, I personally see ~500ppd for each of my GPU's.

It's going to look like it downloaded the same thing but it will be fine and be faster.

Wish I had seen this yesterday (wish it was posted yesterday atleast).

I won't be able to update the EXE on the 24/7 machine until a few weeks from now.

alright... just updated all of mine. FAHSpy is already giving me good news. Looks like I'm up between 400 and 500 ppd per card as well. Sitting around 27.7k right now with 5504 and 5506 units.

Have updated too, it being an 8600GTS I'm not sure I'll see the 400-500ppd increase, but any increase is better than none.

Stop the client, delete fah_core11.exe from the folder all the folding things are in and start the client again.

It will download the new fah_core11.exe which has some performance boost.

For those having EUE problems in Vista...
If you are running Vista, you can try this temp fix.

Try running the program in "XP SP2" compatibility mode.

That has help several users get back folding again.

Can't be. I was running rock stable on all of my machines, and the new core generated EUE's. I even underclocked stock cards trying to pull more stability out and was having problem with those. My dual card machine is terribly not happy right now for some reason.

I got a GuardedRun as well, causing a EUE. However, it's the first EUE out of like 8 WU since the 1.15 update.

Also, have you guys tried updating both the NVIDIA and CUDA drivers?
