Two video cards in vista

Post by ronnyturup »

Hi I have windows vista now on a dual boot with xp because i cant get all the drivers-hardware working on vista. one of the problems is that i have two video cards, one´s a pretty old 440MX with 64 MB and the other is i believe a 6200 turbocache.
then I have on both video cards a tv and a computerscreen attached so i´ve got 4 screens in total. In Xp this was no problem but in vista i can get only one video card to work and on that one video card only one screen works although it recognizes the other screen. WTF am i supposed to do????I ALso have problems with my audiocard in vista butt i come to that later, point is that i´m really pissed off since i´ve had vista for over six months and i still prefer xp, since most of my hardware won´t work on vista. Thanks alot already if you can help me with this

sounds like a driver issue for both your gpu and sound card. now..if i did my math correct, a tv and a computer monitor equals 2 screens.which you could just power with the 6200 if both screens have the same hook up. if you did have 4 screens..then you would definitely need 2 video cards and I wouldn't think that 440mx would do the trick though.. but from the sounds of it with your post, it could be driver related. Vista was a pain in the ass with drivers when it first came out..now most of the drivers are good.. i would update the video/audio drivers if you haven't already and give that a shot. Can't guarantee it would work tho. you could always do the "If it ain't broke don't fix it" routine..moral of that one is, stick with XP if you're that upset about it :) it's what I did when i couldn't run my ISO Loader for my PSP on Vista

Vista doesn't seem to be as good as xp with playing with legacy (older) hardware.

Are you fully windows updated with SP1 etc?

If you are, is there anything that you have to run vista for? i.e. is there something doesn't work with XP?

If there isn't anything, I'd just stick to using XP. It's probably not what you want to hear though after having bought vista.
