Hackers Add Sex Scenes to GTA:SA
From the Red Herring
Sex Scenes Hacked into Game
Makers of the Grand Theft Auto video game say hackers added sex scenes to game, but coders claim content already existed.
July 13, 2005
Wily hackers have sexed up several scenes in a modified version of the latest Grand Theft Auto video game, the game's creator, Rockstar Games, said Wednesday, amplifying industry concern over the rising amount of graphic content in video games.
While the so-called "hot coffee" modification has been flying around the Internet for weeks, the game's publisher finally spoke out, pointing the finger at a "group of determined hackers" responsible for the modification.
The game’s added sexual scenes are not just fun and games. The modification has triggered a probe by the Entertainment Software Rating Board and stoked the debate over the increasingly lurid nature of many video games.
According to Rockstar, a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive Software, “hackers created the hot coffee modification by disassembling and then combining, recompiling and altering the game’s source code.â€

I just saw something about GTA:SA sex scenes on the TV...AFAIK that part of the game was disabled on the PS2/XBOX versions. PC games are moddable, so someone restored the "deleted" content. The game is violent enough as is, so anyone griping about the "new" content should just shut up. If you are going to play GTA:SA, you know it is considered by some to be disgusting and perverted. So why does anyone care????

Apparently Rockstar originally was saying that it was scrap code that was leftover and didn't make the final cut of the game, but now they're saying that it new code inserted into the game by the mod- using the term hacker loosely.
I lost some respect for Rockstar, they should just admit they wrote it but it wasn't part of the game or even an easter egg. The game carries a mature rating anyway, what's the big deal.

I don't think Rockstar is that worried about this situation... all they would be worried about is losing the Mature rating to an Adult rating. This would hurt sales a little, but at this point, most everyone who wants the game already has it.
I think, if anything, this whole situation has increased sales of the game because people want to see this "hot coffee" thing in action.
I think its hilarious how all the gamers are looking at the situation and laughing and the only people concerned about this are the politicians (Hilary Clinton wants to launch a Federal Investigation... what a waste of money that would be...) and a few crazed parents.
