Re: thermalright SI-128SE?
I'm getting a page not found error.
The cooler might be old, but it's still an awesome performer, I think you'll be hard pressed to find anything that beats it (especially if you took the time to mod and lap it).
Maybe you should just get a new U120x?

What exactly is lapping? I've head the term before but I'm unsure what it does.

And here just for skip is a guide I wrote to explain just that

I think I'll pass. Knowing me, I'd sand down to far or get impatient and try to use a dremil.DMB2000uk wrote:And here just for skip is a guide I wrote to explain just that

Benchmark reviews did a nice round up of some of the best heatsinks not so long ago:
http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?o ... itstart=16
Look how good the U120x did. Are you sure you want to give up class leading performance? I'm sure if the 128SE was as good as that they would have gotten one in (and there would have been a lot more talk about it around the net).

Re: thermalright SI-128SE?
How badly bent are the fins? My U-120X is still going strong, although I'm thinking I'll lap it sometime soon. I was just thinking maybe you could straighten the fins out and give it a good cleaning and/or lapping to see how much of a temp improvement you'd get.

Re: thermalright SI-128SE?
If you cant do that, get a xigmatek. It will last you a while and is only a few degrees worse than the TRUE. Plus if you keep the yate-loon on it, it will do very well. There is also an Noctua alternative and Thermalright HR-01 +.

12V 21 dBA 13 12 13 17
9V 17 dBA 15 14 15 18
But honestly, just unbend the fins and dont waste 50 bux where u dont need to.
