I hate SecuROM

Post by Skippman »

I hate SecuROM. I hate it with a passion.

I've been playing Fallout 3 for about 2 weeks now. Every time I go to load the game I get the same error "Please Insert Origianl Disc". It IS the fraking original disc. I turned off all my drive emulation software. Even uninstalled it. And STILL, every time I try to play the game I get that message 4 or 5 times before it descides, "Oh, hey! There IS a disc here!". ](*,)

Whoever created SecuROM needs to die in a fire. I paid my $75 bones, let me play the dang game.

Anyone else have problems with SecuROM?

You should get and use the cracked version.

SecuROM is beyond a joke.

This isn't the first game to do this to me. Prey did the same thing. It's like, dang, I paid my money what do you want from me?

Honestly, every time ive had that issue, I downloaded the No-CD crack and it worked flawlessly as far as not giving the "need correct cd" error....ive had it happen to many games and the no cd crack fixed the issue..give it a shot..wont gaurantee it will work but its always worked for me. even with fallout 3 it worked on my rig

I just find it ironic. I paid for the game, have the original disc in the drive, and it won't let me play.

But if I install the cracked version of the game, it works just fine. A little bass akwards if you ask me.

I installed the game, and it never did any SecuROM stuff. It hasn't once "called home" (I don't have an active internet connection so it can't) and I recently watched a DVD and then played the game, only to realize later that I didn't insert the game DVD back in the drive.

So, I got a cracked version on the DVD? I never installed anything special, just from the original disk, and this is how it played.

Every other time I go to play the game the SecuROM thing pops up telling me I don't have the original disc in the drive. I don't know if it's because I renamed the drive letter to Z or it's because I was also running Demon Tools. I like to make ISO's and keep them on my slave drive so I'm not wondering where the original disc is. I disabled Demon Tools and I still get the same error. It's maddening.

Yeah securom tends to punish paying customers as the game gets cracked within 24 hours of release anyway. When I buy games like that, I just download the no cd crack anyway. Once it is yours you can do whatever you want with it IMO.

If you agree to the terms you agree that you do not own the game at all, just the rights to play the game. It sucks, but it's the truth.

You can buy the game without agreeing right? I may go back and look at some old cases and see if it says anything on the outside. I just thought you were agreeing when you install... Not like there is any real difference though. I just wouldn't be bound by the EULA if I were to buy a game for my friend.

Yeah I probably worded it a little wrong but by the time you are playing the game you've already signed your rights away. :axe:

OK, here is how I got past the disk check. If you delete the Fallout 3 Launcher that is placed on your desktop by default during the installation, then right click on the Fallout 3 EXE in your Fallout directory, and create a shortcut, move that short cut to your desk top. That will bypass the disc check. No "No CD" crack neccessary.
