so i have my E7200 running SMP and my 9600GSO running GPU2, what CPU utilization should i use for each for best results?

I would just run the GPU2 client and drop the SMP client. The GPU2 client needs one core for itself for best PPD. I don't think the SMP would finish on time running on one core only. Not sure to tell you the truth. I think it's time to buy a new graphic card.

well right now, i'm running 75% SMP, 25% GPU2, should i run a text-client on the extra core?

(and yes i'm getting another 9600GSO in the near future for SLI  )

I would run the GPU2 client at 100%. The GPU2 client gives much more PPD. Why not try that for a couple of days and see what your PPD would be. If points are less, than go ahead and try different things.

I want to run SMP and GPU on my rig too, but I was discouraged due to the fact that Windows XP runs poorly if the GPU client isn't using close to 100% CPU utilization. If I drop the CPU utilization for the GPU client down to 80%, my temps go down by around 5C, indicating that my GPU isn't working as hard as it should be when using 95% CPU utilization. VMware doesn't work either because E7200 doesn't support VT.

Can you follow up on the results of your experiment?

currently, FAHMON says 691PPD for my E7200 running one text-only client, and 4771PPD for the slightly OC'd 9600GSO running GPU2 using one core(50% total)

once i finish the current textonly WU, i'll set the SMP client to 50% and see how that goes

my 9600GSO is running at 5294ppd, overclocked to 625/1840/900 on a P5506 WU. I think it would go higher, but I haven't really pushed the overclock.

Use the EVGA Precision Clocking Tool or RivaTuner. I prefer EVGA cus it's easier and more user friendly to use.

According to FahMon, I get 4000PPD on Project 5506, so your 9600GSO numbers look good. Overclock the shaders only to get more folding power since the core and memory does virtually nothing for folding.

I'm using EVGA Precision. No sense to overclock anything else if you are just looking to Fold with it. I would work for the max Folding overclock and max gaming overclock and write down both numbers. With Precision, you can quickly change from one to the other when needed.
