I guess I must be living under a rock, but I just found out today that Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 can have improved performance thanks to enabling GPU acceleration!
Under the tab 'Slide Show' just click 'Set Up Show' and check the box that says 'Use hardware graphics acceleration'. This is off by default, so it has to be enabled. Not bad, but I didn't know about it. I figured this out in Adobe almost two years ago - http://forums.legitreviews.com/about7335.html
So if you use Adobe Acrobat and/or Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 be sure to enable GPU acceleration!

Re: Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 Has GPU Acceleration
Whoa! That's an awesome find! Too bad I don't like Office 2007 cus of the tool layout at the top. And the fact how documents are in .docx instead of .doc.
I checked my Adobe Reader 9, and it seems to have "Enable hardware rendering for legacy video cards" checked by default. That or the program can automatically detect graphic cards.
Wanna run a couple of tests to see how long it'd take to process like a 10 000 powerpoint slide using different graphic cards? LOL

Re: Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 Has GPU Acceleration
Never saw a powerpoint so large that I needed assistance from a GPU.
I did, however, pick up Office Enterprise 2007 for $25 at my fiancee's college. I will give it a try next time I build a computer. I think it is OEM.

Wow, never knew there was an option for that. I wonder if it really impacts performance or not.
