Re: WARMACHINE 1.5 - Design Phase!
If your Antec fans are at all like the ones I have then the reason your having issues is because the Antecs don't have the 3pin connect. With the molex connector and even with a 3pin to molex connectors there is not much that a fan controller can do because the fan is probably overriding the controller. Have you tried the fan set to Low? Not sure if that will work depending on how antec controls the fan speed but that may let you use the fan controller.Other than that you may need to get new fans depending on how the antec one works internally (I'm thinking I'll probably pull mine apart and have a look as I'm getting all Yate Loons anyway).

You're the 3rd person I've head mention Yate Loons. What's the big deal behind them? I know tjharlow used him in his build and I'm considering just getting new fans as I'd really like to keep the controller for aestetic purposes.
Guess I could sell my fans and the adapters to someone on the forum.

I actually ordered a couple boxes of those (for my core system and my bro in law's rig) and I can't believe how quiet they are. I figured for the price, they would be noisy as hell and they are inaudible in my computer room unless I stick my head in the case. They have 3 pin connectors on them.
Alternatively, I had been looking at the Scythe S-FLEX "E" fans http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6835185005 Silent PC Review rated them 2nd quietest behind the Noctua which are over $20 each.

No LEDs though. That's one of the things I liked about the Antec ones that are in there.

http://www.oznium.com/led-flex-strips That's the route i'm going, should I ever get around to actually modding my 900.
http://www.oznium.com/molex forgot the switch. Edit: nm the switch, that's for cathodes.

Re: WARMACHINE 1.5 - Design Phase!
i wouldnt go that far. you see, the reason the NXZT cant read the RPM's is because the RPM signal is not carried over a molex connector! molex only carries power!

They've earned the bashing, especially after they've failed to provide customer support or answers to my questions. The manuals rubbish as well. That being said, it is a well built, attractive piece and I'm torn between trying to make it work and returning it.
If I'm to make it work I'm going to need new fans. Here's a couple of choices.
Yate Loon 120mm blue LED fans.
or
Blackfire 1200mm blue UV fans.

Re: WARMACHINE 1.5 - Design Phase!
is your computer in a room you will be in aside from during "computer time"? I REALLY liked the blue LED fans in the 900 when I first got it. That quickly changed as they started to become quite annoying, because I sleep in my office most nights. That's the reason I recommend non-LED fans and LED's or cathodes on switches that can be turned off.

My office is in the loft of my condo, one room over from my bedroom. It's seperated by my walk-in closet so I won't likely hear it nor see it. My current rig (shown earlier) is on 24x7 and it never bothers me.

Re: WARMACHINE 1.5 - Design Phase!
probably be better off getting the yate loon highspeeds (non LED) as they are cheap, have great overhead for fan controllers, and they are dirt cheap. a cold cathode light or two should be more than enough light if thats what your looking for

Re: WARMACHINE 1.5 - Design Phase!
Kinda off topic but I figured out Yate Loons naming system a couple days ago and was rather proud of myself
I'm sure its posted somewhere on their website but here goes...
The first three characters indicate fan size so if its D12 its 120mm or if its D80 its 80mm.
The next character indicates bearing type eg an "S" for sleeved or a "B" for ballbearing
The next character is for fan speed-you have low (L), medium (M) and high (H)
The two numbers after that indicate voltage (I think)
Then any extra characters are special features, eg those fans Skipp has picked out has a 4UB for "4 Ultraviolet Blue"
So using that fan Skipp picked it's code is D12SH-124UB so D12=120mm S=Sleeved bearing H=High Speed 12=volts 4UB=4UltravioletBlue...yeah it's kinda useless but I was bored.
Now you know!

Re: WARMACHINE 1.5 - Design Phase!
What's the diffrence between sleaved and ball bearing anyway?
I like those Blackfires alot, but I'll probably end up with the Yates I linked to as they're cheaper and Yate has a good reputation.

Ball bearings will last longer in hot working environments, but will be generally noisier than their sleeved counterparts.

Re: WARMACHINE 1.5 - Design Phase!
I can get 5 of those Yate Loons for $50 shipped. Those are 3 pin connectors, pre sleaved. That seem like a good investment?
This should work with my Sentry as it has the RPM header, right?
Product Details:
This Yate Loon 120mm case fan is all about performance with a whoppign 88 CFM! The fan still has a tolerable 40 dB but is for those that want the better cooling or want some head room using a fan controller. This high speed fan also includes the added advantage of both a 3-pin motherboard power connector and a 4-pin standard power connector making this a very versatile case fan. This new version has striking UV Blue reactive colored frame and blades and has 4 bright blue LED's
Features:
Noise, tolerable 40 dB(A)
High airflow level, 88 CFM
3-pin motherboard connector / RPM monitoring
Two 4-pin connectors (male and female)
Specifications:
Model: D12SH-124UB
Air Flow: 88 CFM
Fan Speed: 2200 RPM
Noise Level: 40 dBA
Current: 0.30 Amps
Fan Size: 120x120x25 MM

Re: WARMACHINE 1.5 - Design Phase!
WOW 40DB SEEMS A LITTLE HIGH TO ME!!! (all caps for dramatic effect).
I guess 2x the air flow, 2x the noise of the el cheapo Cooler Masters I linked. Of course, with the controller, you wouldn't be running them on high all the time anyway. Where'd you find them for that price?

That's why he has a fan control, the highs mediums and lows are all pretty much the same just different default speeds so he can use the fan controller to turn them down low but can still use high when the need arises. But yeah 40dB is enough to drive a man insane...just ask STK77

Re: WARMACHINE 1.5 - Design Phase!
Performance PCs has them for $8.95 a piece. Shipped they're $55.
They come pre-sleved with a 3 pin connector which, according to the site, includes the RPM sensor which will fix my fan contoller problem.
I figure the 3 front fans blowing on the radiator should be more than enough considering I'm only using it to cool the CPU currently. I might relocate one of the Antec fans that came with the case to the internal fan location at the back of the hard drive tray.
