NFS: Undercover...anyone else playing?

Post by DaIceMan »

Why are these games so addicting? I lose all grasp of time when i start to play these games. Often, I think, just one more race. One more assignment. One more police chase.

I started playing about 9:30 or so, and 15 minutes later... it's 1am. What happened here!?!?!

Damn you took the "short cut". I didn't think I had to warn anyone of this. But, there is a certain short cut that seems faster but, the car hits a gravity wave at the speed of light thus bending time and causing you to only get 15 mins of play time and 4 hours pass by.. I'll leave the rest up to those who have experienced this. Just watch out for them and take the course.

The last NFS I played was Underground never beat it. Saw the trailer for Undercover, and figured what the hell. Haven't played it this weekend for some reason. But gotta agree DaIce, the game is addictive, its like I'll play for a half hour, then all of a sudden its 3 hrs later.

I want to play it on my PS2, but currently only PAL is released.....if you get my drift. So I gotta wait for the NTSC version.

Lots of review sites gave it a measely 4.0 or thereabouts though.

PS2=failboat if you have a capable PC, even PROSTREET looked awful on PS2 compared to PC, couldn't imagine Undercover would look better

i want it, but i just threw down for my other video card, so it'll have to wait, i havn't nearly beat DiRT anyways, which is another really addicting game

Well, I don't like playing these type of games on a keyboard. And I probably wouldn't buy a controller either.

Do you guys use a controller? Or just a keyboard?

Well, I've been playing with kb/mouse, but I have a USB cable my daughter's dog chewed in half, and a Type S XBox controller just waiting to be hacked up.

I like the feel of the XBox controllers over the PS2 controllers because my hands are huge... but even so, the slightly smaller Type S (japanese) controller is a perfect fit.

http://www.fury-tech.com/en/Guides/Xbox ... ersion-Mod

similar to that, but I have some extension cords, so I won't have to destroy a factory controller cable and can always switch back should I ever need to.

or you can just use a 360 controller, they're supported after an automatic driver download, and they're just USB

Go ahead and send that on over, and I'll use it... otherwise, I'll stick with the free option that I have laying around my office. :)

I hacked a USB cord to allow Xbox controller play, but at the time the drivers didn't support joystick use. It worked ok otherwise, but if I were to use a game pad now, I would go out and buy a 360 controller.

well, after DiRT for about 2 days on kb, i played one race with the controller(i borrowed a controller from a kid on my wing [there are 3 people with 360s on my wing]) and couldn't keep the car straight at all, so i unplugged it and moved along

(if you've used a keyboard so far, don't bother with a controller, unless you want to be horrible at the first few races with it, then *maybe* a little bit better than the kb once you've used a controller for a while)

Usually I agree that the KB is better. But, for racing games I like being able to slightly turn not just turn or straight. But, hey whatever works for you.

yeah, and it's nice to tap the brakes and not lose 100mph. keyboard is all on or all off. no feather the throttle and brake.

that's what i initially thought at first(going from PROSTREET on PS2 to PC) but all my controllers for PS2 and PC(yes, i do have a walmart PC controller) always gave me trouble(they would randomly start making you turn in one direction without you touching the thing), so it wasn't worth the effort, so i just got good at keyboard, and kept truckin'

besides, i don't use the analog sticks for gas/brake, only for steering, just have to judge when you're close enough to a turns apex to hold the brakes down hard, which i do quite well(or so I think)

to each his own :partyman:

If the controller starts to stick

Step 1) Submerge controller in purified water, Aquafina works great. Make sure it's pure though.
Step 2) Place in oven at 400F for 12 hours (I'm not sure what that is in Celsius for the rest of the world but, I'm guessing twice as high as boiling about so say 200C?)
Step 3) To ensure all of the condensation is gone, put the controller in the microwave for 4 mins on high
Step 4) Plug it in to your pc and start up a game of your choice.
Always works.
