Digital pic frames - any experience?

Post by FZ1 »

I want to get one for my wife to put in her office but I want to get a nice one that has a good quality screen with good viewing angles. I haven't really looked at these so does anyone own one or know someone who has one they are really happy with? There are a lot of shoddy ones out there is seems. I really would like removeable storage.
Black Friday will prolly be the time to buy.

There's a mini roundup of about six different frames over here:

(skip to the testing section, as it's a loooong article!)

Personal experience with digital frames is this - you will end up turning them off. They REALLY can get annoying if you are looking at them!

I would pick one that you can adjust the timing into the minutes or even hours for picture changes to cut down on craziness.

As for the quality - depends on what size you want and what quality picture you are putting into it. If you take a 3mp picture and put it on a 11" frame, it will look a lot worse than a 6mp picture in the same frame.

We have a Kodak frame SV1011 ( http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier. ... cale=en_US ) and I can see the picture even at an almost 90degree angle. I HATE the buttons for the menu on the back as they seem REAL slow to react to being pushed! Other than that, the only main complaint I have is that I can only set the max picture display time to 1hour.

I do NOT know if leaving these on at those high 1 hour settings or more will cause damage to the screens or not, since we have not kept it on long enough to find out :)

Oh and my 6mp pictures look GREAT in the frame - its nice and bright, with crisp colors. We got it at Circuit City, so you might want ot swing by a CC, BB, OD, etc and check them out.
Remember, I am opinionated and nothing I say or do reflects on anyone or anything else but me :finga:
