web browsing issue

Post by Merlin »

I have a wierd problem. I am sure its a firewall or antivirus problem but I don't know...when I go to NewEgg or some other site with pictures , all the pictures are Xed out like the pop up blocker has blocked them. I have tried changing the settings and disableing the blocker but still no go. Any ideas??

If you are using IE make sure the browser is set to display pictures in addition to the deleting mentioned above

1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
2. Click the Advanced tab, and then verify that the Show Pictures check box is selected under Multimedia.
3. Click OK.

might be the picture format is different and requires something such as active x or java and you do not have it enabled.

Download a different browser to see if the images are still blocked. If they aren't then you might want to search around for a specific answer to your problem. At this point I don't know if you're running IE 4 or IE 7, or God forbid IE 8 beta.

Product pictures?

Avatars are usually forum/game user pictures.

This is about to really tick me off...... I have done EVERYTHING except un-install the OS. I have un-installed all the following.....Adobe, Quick Time, Java, all media software other than Windows Media player including any and all DVD/ music stuff. I have also followed Microsofts own directions to remove IE 7 and revert to IE6. Further I have ran scandisk and DX diag. I have re-installed DX. When all this offered no results I added back IE7 on a fresh install.

I have restored "factory" defaults on everything associated with the internet that I can including any and all "custome" stuff from my ISP. I e-mailed the webmaster at newegg and followed their instructions. With all the extra stuff removed the picture is still the same....ZipZoomFly is all A OK as is ALL other sites but not NewEgg no no no that site is $#^%$#%@#$ and nothing I do seems to make the least bit of difference. I can log in one min and see X in place of ever sinlge non alphabetic or numeric character ( anything with a background color is out) on the site then log out and back in to find 75% is fine but the other 25% still X's. I mean even the headers are messed up sometimes...you know the part where they put a catagory inside a yellow field( not a picture but a field).

I just don't understand how this is possible...ALL other sites are fine but NewEgg is FUBAR and it is variably FUBAR...real bad once not so much next. I have not been frequenting the site so I cannot say when this started.
