Adding a second card

Post by foog666 »

Hey guys I have a 4870X2 I'm currently folding on and I thought about adding a second video card, a 4850 to up my daily points. How much of a performance hit would it be or is it even worth adding the second card to fold on ? Another 4870 is out of the question since I only have enough space for a single slot card.

QX6700 -CPU
ASUS DH-Deluxe 975-MB
4GB- Memory
TT 1200Watt -PSU
2 SATA Promise Cards
X-FI Creative Sound Card
Window XP-OS
LG Bluray Burner

I was reading somewhere that if you mix and match video card, there would be a performance hit on your folding score.

Well the rest of the rig will handle it specs wise, but I don't know about that mix and match lowering performance thing.

What's the official line on stanford's forums?
(If you can't find out, you can always make a new thread there and ask them)
