Forcing TV Detection on a ATI Radeon HD 3650?

Post by cwhittington »

Using a card with multiple TV Outputs on it, forcing TV detection will not appear.
I tried following tutorials for updating it, but the CCC version 8.11 is not stable, so im using CCC 8.10.

Im using the ATI Radeon HD 3650 on Windows Vista 32bit.

It tells me to go under the Display Options and select the 'Force TV Detection' if it wont automatically detect your tv when you select 'Detect Displays', however there is no option to force TV Detection.
"Note: This option is not available if the installed graphics card does not support TV Out." is on the tutorial and I was thinking maybe my card is not smart enough to know that it has a TV out...

I just bought a 42" Sanyo LCD HDTV 1080p and I figured it would detect that, but Ive still got nothing.

Updated CCC and proper S-Video cabling that im using, it wont pick it up at all.

Any ideas on other ways to force TV detection or for it to pick up my TV at all?

Always plug the TV into the computer then restart the system. I have had this problem in the past when it wouldn't display on the TV the way a monitor will. TVs aren't plug and play so they are kinda like old keyboards and mice before USB where a restart was required after plugging them in.

As for S-video. You will notice very poor quality while using an S-video cable to an HDTV, especially that large. I suggest D-Sub, DVI-HDMI, or even Composite.

Sadly, the HD 3650 (Which was the best GFX card I could customize with the system from dell), only supports Coax, S-Video or Yellow RCA (Possibly Component).
I tried restarting the system with the computer already connected and it still doesn't detect the display :?

Maybe there is a way to get the force tv detection to start working? ugh, its getting ridiculous, Ive spent three days on this now

Surely your card and TV have either both a DVI port, or a VGA port each?

My TV has a HDMI (DVI) slot and the computer has DVI slot for the monitor, but not for a second monitor.
I want to be able to connect my computer with both its regular monitor and the TV?

I got HDMI working through it. Now presented with another problem...

The desktop will not always show up on the TV, if I restart the TV, it will appear with the bootup, however the computer wont boot up to windows if the computer is on the input while the bootup. (sorry if that doesnt make much sense)

Anyways, once in a while I can get the display to appear on the TV, however every time that I turn to the correct input on my TV, my computer starts lagging really badly?
I dont know what to do, any helpful hints?

Try changing the settings in the Nvidia control panel for dual monitors. You may have to change the drop down for the monitor types to set primary/secondary.

Whoops, my fault.

You could get Ultramon and try that out. This is a program especially for multiple monitors.
