Grand Theft Auto 4 PC

Post by InspectahACE »

Holy hell...I've had to install some things before in my life in order to play a game or use a program, but never in my life, have i had to get the anal raping of having to install not one, not 2, but 3 different things that ARE required to play this game..you got the "microsoft windows live" to install in order to save your progress, you also have to install "Rockstar Games Social Club" which tracks your achievements(worthless IMO), and thats along with the securom and having to have an actual internet connection to activate the product..and i mean activate like it was windows activation..not just enter some serial number and you're done lol..and even my rig(in my sig) has issues running it flawlessly..i was pretty sure it would run nicely, but as much as it runs..it could've been better..granted it says a quad core is recommended, but a dual core should do just fine..oh well..its still good..but just pisses me off to no end having to jump thru un-necessary hurdles to play a game considering I never had to before

Well, looks like I won't be getting it then. Do you HAVE to sign in to windows live to play the game? (IE ever time you load the game you have to be connected to the internet).

as far as playing it..no you don't need the internet..but IF you want to save your progress.. well..from the looks of it then you WILL need the internet and LOG into Windows Live..real BS....at least windows live is integrated into gta4 so you don't have to minimize it...I can't tell if all that is what is slowin my rig when i play it or not..rig far exceeds the minimum requirements..but yet it plays like Crysis..(well it does run better than Crysis on high ill say that much)..I honestly thought from what I read that they optimized it for the PC(performance wise)..they optimized it alright for the newest hardware im sure..i almost thought it was runnin in DX10 mode the way it ran..but i think it uses DX9...oh yea.. i almost forgot..its an 16-18 Gig monster game...plan on taking a drive when installing it..took me nearly an hour if not an hour.. once the game is cached(levels loaded an all that) it runs decent..but when i first started it..i began to think it would crash it was so slow
