Haha sorry guys. I have the Verizon network, which provides in-home ISP as well. (Also have Verizon the cell phone carrier, but that's another subject entirely).

Am I the single "dumbest" person to ever use these forums? Sure seems like it haha.

Also, how's this wireless card look?

D-Link WDA-2320 IEEE 802.11b/g PCI Rangebooster G Desktop Adapter Up to 108Mbps Data Rates 64/128-Bit WEP, WPA - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... t03Descrip

that's what I need right? Is it compatible with my current parts? How do I know?

it's not DSL, it's just cable. Doesn't even really matter, as I'm leaving to go back to school in 3 weeks and we have a different network (jet broadband) down there. So basically I need a network card that works in all networks... similar to what's in my laptop.

I'm still confused as to what to purchase

If you went with an 802.11 draft n card you should be fine as its backwards compatible with 802.11 b & g. I'm thinking you could really just get by with an 801.11 g card (better selection & costs less) as I doubt your school has a draft n network yet, but I could be wrong.

forced to use wireless.

And it's basically directly over it, just a floor up.

Just browsing on Newegg.com it appears this Gigabyte card is pretty popular (over 500 reviews) and is reasonably priced at $16.99

PARTS ARE HERE!!

Started putting together and already have an array of questions:

1) Do I need a CPU cooler (fan that goes over CPU)?

2) Do I need heat sink paste?

3) I'm following this guide http://www.legitreviews.com/article/316/2/ and am already having problems at "installing the hard drive". It appears the tray that came within my case and the hard drive don't line up in terms of where the screws go. The drive slides into the tray perfectly, but, as I said, screw holes don't match up. What do I do?

I'm having an extremely tech-savvy friend come over tomorrow and help me get it together, but would love to hear your responses. Thanks

Is there not a standard Intel CPU cooler in the box (with paste pre-applied ready for installation)?

Ah, you are correct there was one in the box. How do I know if paste is pre-applied?

If it's an intel one, it will be.

Those three strips on the bottom of the copper bit that comes into contact with the CPU are thermal paste.
