My SSD Adventure

Post by pwcmed »

I just ordered two 30 gigs OCZ Solid series drives for 115 bucks with free shipping from Amazon. Hopefully fully it will run some what faster than my two 36 raptors. [-o<

UPDATE 11 Jan 09

Windows 7

OCZ - 14:48.52

Raptors - 13:45.26

Boot Times with Avast installed. Paused once the network icon went green. It takes about 19 seconds before the starting windows screen comes up.

OCZ - 39.26

Raptors -55.85

UPDATE 07 Jan 09
I got the drives in and tested them with a program that the OCZ forums use. OCZ Drives are on left and Raptors on the right.

I also used HD Tune because other then HD Tach that is the only programs that I know of that tests hard drives.

Loaded a fresh OS from the time I choose the HDD to time it requested input from me

Thanks for the info. Those forums had a lot of useful information but its pretty disorganized. I have not had any issues with these drives on my Biostar Tpower i45.

Is the performance increase noticable?

Just from playing a couple games and copying and pasting files it seems faster. Load times seem shorter. This could be the excitement of having new hardware. I was going to load windows copy and paste some files and time it with a stop watch.

I think I have convinced my myself to stick with the SSD drives.

I was going to load vista too and run a couple more test but I think this is enough.
