So you updated your firmware and it solved the problem?

I have a few reasons:

Small keys (I checked it out at Bestbuy and I couldn't believe how small they were! If you have big fingers like I do, stay away)
Expensive (A cheap $15 can do the same job although it won't be as pretty.)
Main Rig: E8400@3600mhz, Asus P5Q, OCZ 4GB, EVGA GTX260 216, Corsair HX520, Antec 300, Samsung 2443BW
HTPC1: E5200@2500mhz, EVGA 780i SLI, OCZ 2GB, Asus 9600GSO, OCZ GameXStream 600W, LG 47LG70 LCD TV
HTPC2: E6500@3300mhz, DFI DK X48 T2RS, Kingston 2GB, Palit 9800GT Green, BFG 550W, Acer H5360 720p 120hz Projector

not really, cheap $15 dont have macro keys, or anti ghosting, or backlit keys, or an LCD etc...

I honestly don't know that I have noticed any size difference concerning the keys. I may have to check that out. For my hands I have always liked the feel of logitech keyboards the best, but that's just me. May have to take some pics and grab a ruler

True, I wasn't really thinking about macro keys, as personally I never really needed them :P

But I disagree with the antighosting, as I've been using this microsoft keyboard for 2 years playing all sorts of fast action games and I've never had any issues with ghosting. I can crouch, walk front, walk side ways, jump all at the same time. As for the backlit keys and LCD, for me a keyboard is for input, I dont need fancy lights or an LCD screen for that.

In no way I'm saying that the G15 is a bad keyboard, I think it's pretty cool myself. I'm just saying it's not worth the price in response to the thread topic

Well seen as though the OP has already decided against getting a G15, it's mute point now anyway :axe:

I tried out the 2.04 drivers on the razer website, and it didn't solve the "cycling through backlight settings" problem that drives me crazy the most. I saw that Newegg had the Saitek keyboard on sale just today, but it was sold out. I may check again later, hopefully they will get more inventory.

I decided that I won't pay more than $40 for a keyboard when my current one works for the most part.

EDIT: I opened up the keyboard to see if there was a short that was causing the problems. The cables were very stretched where they connect to the circuit board inside. One of wires had stretched far enough to pull the insulation back, which then touched the shielding material. I think this was causing it to cycle because sometimes it would stop when I wiggled the cable that goes into the keyboard.

So: design flaw = bad keyboard

There is about 1/8th of an inch of the wire exposed, and I don't have small enough hands... I did try to pull a bit of slack and tape it on so that the insulation covered as much of the wire. I also added a ton of electrical tape to the outside part of the cable where it connects to the keyboard so it was less likely to bend.
