Is there a video converter to 360 format?

Post by DX »

Is there a program that will convert a variety of different formats to one that will play on a 360 through the Windows Media Connect? I have hundreds of videos of different formats and different sizes that I would like to run through the 360 to the big screen.

A free one that is.

There's a ton. I use MeGUI. For others, check out the doom9 forums. I think a lot of developers connected to video-related software hang out there.

If your computer has enough grunt for it, you can probably also do live transcoding to the 360 via Tversity.

Another vote for MeGUI.. there is also XVID4PSP v5. easy to use and can convert to various format supported by various consoles (phones, 360, psp, PS3 etc..)

I did some searching but I didn't want to test them all out to see what works best. Figured I would save tons of hassle by just asking here. I have the 360 connecting just fine to my vista64 box. I just hate the can't play video message. At least it plays my music just fine. I'll be testing the video converter this weekend.

I would highly recommend a program called PlayOn, it's about 30 bucks. Runs on ur PC and allows you stream hulu/youtube/netflix etc. over ur network to the 360/ps3. I have it and it's great!

Have you tried Handbrake? It worked for me. It encoded to mp4 format for the 360, so maybe you need to to install the mp4 compatibility upgrade. You can get it here (it's free) http://handbrake.fr/

Hope this works
