Moving Core2 Quad Q9300 CPU to new Mobo
Moving Core2 Quad Q9300 CPU to new Mobo
I've got an HP tower that I really like the performance of but would like to see more come out of the CPU so I was wondering how hard it would be to take all of the existing software and hardware and swap it all into a new case and motherboard in order for me to overclock. Any advice or should I just be happy with what I've got?

I wouldn't recommend keeping the same OS install with a new mobo. It can be done (I did it once) but really would be best if you have the same manufacturer and chipset.

Ahhh so you think I should just leave it like it is unless I plan on buying another install of windows vista? I'm not sure what all is required to do it aside from the new case and mobo but if its going to be a lot then idk

It would be best to reinstall Windows when you do that..I think that's what FZ1 meant..and I also agree with him on that..it would be all that would need to be done (along with you're other software) really if you're only replacing the motherboard
