Hi all,
I was wondering. If you are troubleshooting a Windows PC that is having BSOD issues on boot up, and your not sure if it's a hardware or a software issue, to same some time before stripping down the windows box, would booting off a hardrive successfully with Ubuntu installed, would that successful boot into the ubuntu OS eliminate the defective hardware issue and point to a software issue.
I think it would but I'm not all that keen on ubuntu and don't know if Ubuntu would find all the drivers for the hardware and therefore give a good boot but there may still be bad hardware on the windows box.
What do you think?
Thanks

Peace is in the mind, not the situation...unless you're in a firefight.

just from a personal experience level, memory is hte reason for bsod be it virtual memory or system memory 80% of the time, maybe more. pop the ubuntu cd in and run the memtest86 option on the list.

Don't post the same topic in multiple sub forums, it won't get your question answered any quicker.
