Think Your CPU Cooler is Loud?

Post by Apoptosis »

Made a fun little video today that I just uploaded to YouTube... Think you guys will enjoy this and get a laugh out of it. We are working on a CPU cooler review right now and I saw the term loud being used... Far too many people call their CPU cooler loud... They don't know loud unless they've used one of these:

64DBa is still loud by todays standard for after market coolers, much over 40 I get really annoyed. Sweet spot to me is mid 20's low 30's, that can still be muffled by most cases.

The Delta was friggen funny "oh crap it moves"

Lol, hilarious. You should definitely include a link in your review. That Delta screamer sounds louder than my vacuum cleaner. A nice-looking slim case I bought came with a Delta 80mm fan. Moved a lot of air, but the darned thing sounded like a freakin' jet engine and the computer is in my bedroom. Replaced it with an Enermax Marathon 80mm with magnetic bearing. Temps increased by 8~10C, but the only noise it makes is the whooshing of air and that was inaudible from the bed. :)

Man, i remember when i wanted my computer to be loud to make it sound as if my room was a datacenter. In all 22 fans in my first computer from chipset to case fans. Now I dont want to hear anything!! LOL How times change. LOL
But yes excellent video!!! If you get a longer power cord for that one fan it would be like...... :axe:

I can't believe that was a prototype Intel cooler... it sounds EXACTLY like a hairdryer, and probably works about as well as one too with a 3.6GHz Q6600.

That 80mm Delta screamer sounded like a toy though, you really need to play with a 120mm Delta... The 152CFM models are scary to work with and will still move themselves around on you while giving you that good DataCenter scream. But then there is the 220CFM model... http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/de12tfexhisp.html

What was it that flew off when the delta screamer hit the sound meter?
