Share Your Favorite Proverb

This is my favorite proverb. I'm not sure where it came from, but it is African.
Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows that it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up. It knows that it must out run the slowest gazelle or it will starve. It does not matter whether you are a lion or gazelle. When the sun comes up you had better be running.

If you want happiness for an hour – take a nap.
If you want happiness for a day – go fishing.
If you want happiness for a month – get married.
If you want happiness for a year – inherit a fortune.
If you want happiness for a lifetime – help someone else.

My learned Cowboy proverbs

- Always drink upstream from the herd.

- Don't squat with your spurs on.

- It don't take a genius to spot a goat in a flock of sheep.

- Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance.

- All hat, and not much cowboy. (Meaning: Refers to someone who presents himself as being better than their actual skill or status warrants (i.e. a 'wanna-be')

- A Good Horse is Never a Bad Color (Meaning: Externals matter little when character and conduct are reliable.)

- A Cowboy Knows the Coffee is Ready When a Horseshoe Will Float on Top.

- Some Cowboys are fools, yet not all fools are cowboys.

- Sometimes it takes a young cowboy, to meet the old cowboy in His saddle.

- Careful as a naked man climbin' a barbed wire fence.

- Never kick a cow chip on a hot day.

- Don't interfere with something that ain't bothering you none.

- Real cowboys never run, they just ride away.

A cowboy to the lady...

- A wise cowboy is given her what she needs, not what she wants.

Time is precious. Waste it wisely.
Deep in the human unconscious is a pervasive need for a logical universe that makes sense. But the real universe is always one step beyond logic.
