Legit Reviews Highway Cleaning on March 28th, 2009

Post by Apoptosis »

Hey guys just wanted to see what you are doing on Saturday March 28th.

I'm looking to do the street cleaning for Legit Reviews that morning. Planning on getting a small group of guys together to do the cleaning that morning then doing a lunch over here at my house for everyone.

Let me know if that day works for you. I was thinking about meeting here at ~7am so we can get it cleaned before traffic picks up and before it gets warm. Tomorrow is supposed to be 78F, so it's going to be warmer by then. The section of highway starts at the GM plant entrance and ends after a one mile straight away in Wentzville, Missouri. So, basically it will be a 1 mile walk down and then a 1 mile return walk. I'm guessing it should take ~2 hours at most.

After the highway cleaning we'll be heading to my house for a BBQ lunch and to hang out for a few hours. I have a set of washers that we can throw and a pool table down stairs, so we can figure out something fun to do while hanging out. This is the first ever street cleaning that Legit Reviews will be doing, but I figured it would be a good way to get everyone together locally that is part of the staff or the forums.

I do have ten orange vests to wear so no one has to worry about being visable. The road is straight and flat, so it should be easy to walk down. Here is a shot of the start of the cleanup and you can see the GM plant in the background.

Wow! I didn't know you adopted a highway! This may help balance out all of the electricity we use! I would be out there with you if I were in the area.

Hmmmm, my wife's best friend lives in O'Fallon and that might give me an excuse to come out that way. Will think about it.

Hell of an idea - too bad I do not live close by :(

Mike

Should have put it for legitreviews.com rather than just Legit Reviews - just my opinion :)

depends where you're at on the road. Its basically one big curve that goes around the GM plant, just so happens to have a mile or so straight section in front of the plant.

I was thinking the 28th was a Sunday, will need to check with my sitter to see what she has going on Saturday morning, think I have a circus to attend that night too, nothing else may bring the kids with me... :-k

you can't use the signs as advertising... just the group/company name... URL's are strictly prohibited!

And yes it's the 1 mile stretch of road that people street race on in front of the GM plant ;)

That's one strange segment of highway to keep clean.

If the GM plant were to go on strike and picket the facility, that highway afterward will need some heavy duty cleaning.

I've seen how the road ways get during a picketing. Styrofoam cups, donut boxes, pop cans, and newspapers litter the area.

The worse mess of a highway was in 1998 during the Flint, MI strikes.

Well,

Since no one locally is interested in doing this I'm going to put this off till April the 5th, 2009 to see if I can get some people interested... I figured a meet and greet with free food and beverages would be of interest to some locally, but I guess not.

Justin and Brian will be out of town this weekend, so it would have just Bubba and I cleaning two miles of highway together.

If you were a bit closer I would join ya for it. 300 miles is a bit far for me right now. Plus I'm not sure my Pick-up would make the 600 mile round trip
