Just want to vent for a second. Billy Joel & Elton John are coming to town in July and we wanted to go to the show with 2 friends of ours. Cheap seats were $52 each at the arena box office as opposed to ~$75 each online or by phone. There was a 6 ticket per person limit.
Tickets went on sale at 9 am today. So we got up early this morning to go stand in line. Turns out the 4 people ahead of us were in line to each buy 6 tickets to sell on eBay. We got to the window and there was only one set of two seats left one in front of the other, the rest were single seats, the closest of which was 20 seats away.
It just really pisses me off, although I know doing this is big "business", that people who have no interest in going to the show prevent others from seeing it simply because there's a market for scalped tickets.
Sometimes I really miss the pre-Internet days along with the saturation of 800 numbers and cell phones. Christ I need to lay off the pain meds......

that's when you trip, and beat the dude, leaving them on the ground looking different for takin your seats before you got them(since the ticket booth wont do anything really)..Childish, maybe, but it can't more childish than buying up loads of tickets just to sell them instead of someone buying them to enjoy the show(in my opinion anyway)..that would piss me off too actually

Re: Damn ticket scalpers
I have scalped tickets only once. I bought a ticket for myself and my fiancee for a local band that was playing at Peabody's in Cleveland. They were $15 bucks apiece, and the band we were going to see was opening for Mushroom head.
Well, on our way to Cleveland I got pulled over for driving too fast (we were late already) and got a warning, but it still took all of our time. We get to Peabody's and there was a line all the way down the block. I called a friend who was already inside and he said our band was already playing, and if we stood in line we were going to miss it anyway. So we sold the tickets to some guy in line for $40 apiece. I had fully intended on going to the show, but realized I was going to miss it, and took the best option available.
It does suck that people would buy up all the seats together. I went to see Tool, though, and our group got our tickets at different times. Once we got there, I was about 10 rows behind them, but there weren't enough people to fill the seats so I still got to go down and sit with them anyway.

That's different, tho. you were actually going to see the band. you weren't just looking to make a buck at another fan's expense. Sure you made a profit but you had the expense and aggravation of travel and policeman dick, respectively. Totally acceptable IMHOI had fully intended on going to the show, but realized I was going to miss it, and took the best option available.
Thought crossed my mind even tho two of the 4 were 60+ year old ladies (b**ches!InspectahACE wrote:that's when you trip, and beat the dude, leaving them on the ground looking different for takin your seats before you got them(since the ticket booth wont do anything really)..Childish, maybe, but it can't more childish than buying up loads of tickets just to sell them instead of someone buying them to enjoy the show(in my opinion anyway)..that would piss me off too actually

Fortunately we live in Buffalo so there's other stuff we can do like catch a broadway show at Shea's theater which would be cool. We studied musicals when I took music theory in HS but I've never seen one and these are actually the shows and performers from NYC and broadway. I think it would be pretty cool to see one live. Or catch the philharmonic orchestra this season. But anyway I'm rambling now (damn morphine
