Earth Hour

Post by geokilla »

So who's participating? I'm participating since I'm going out to eat tonight. As a folder, my computer will be off from when I go out to when I go home, then I might leave one of the computer on overnight in order to meet the folding deadline.

I am at work, and we require computers, so I won't. "It doesn't meet the requirements of the business"

Apparently, I'm making the folding deadlines so my comp will be all night during and most likely after Earth Hour.

As soon as I saw the title of the post, I said "awww, crap", so you can likely guess whether or not I participated.

Maybe I'll kill all the computers tonight while I sleep... of course, then it will be so quiet I won't be able to sleep in here and will likely get up and turn on the TV for noise, thus defeating the purpose.

Am I said hippie for bringing up Earth Hour and participating in raising awareness? Well I've accomplished my goal. That's to raise awareness about Earth Hour and what it does.

The thing I find funniest about Earth Hour is this:

Al Gore left really bright flood lights on at his mansion and even had several lights on inside. Heard about it on Rusty Humphrey tonight.

I charged my cell phone. :)

Sat in the dark taking a nap.

That was very productive.

I was at the in-laws who use a wood-burning furnace... I'd say I participated without even knowing it! Our computers and furnace were off over the weekend since we were out of town.

Saves some fossil fuel so your kids can use it.

It's meant to get you thinking about what you use the rest of the time too, and maybe get you to think "do I really need to leave that on?"

You could always just put the switches as high as possible, and control them yourself.

"You want light?"
"Yes, Dad"
"Too bad"
