NVIDIA TESLA GPU COMPUTING CLUSTER GIVES BOOST TO EVOLUTION OF NEURAL CIRCUITRY

SANTA CLARA, CA - APRIL 9, 2009 - Evolved Machines, Inc. has activated a 10,800-core parallel computing facility dedicated to the development of artificial neural circuits. The system incorporates 42 NVIDIA®® Tesla™ GPU Computing processors, controlled by 14 quad core AMD Phenom® conventional microprocessors, and has a nominal computation capacity of over 40 TFLOPS.

Now that is some exciting news. If paralyzed people from accidents can benefit from this to walk or have control movements of arms, legs, fingers and toes, their quality of life would greatly improve. Sure, this boarders on the BORG, but in the present day, the benefits to assist anyone who has become disabled is hope.

Back in the late 80s research was going on to have organic type of cells communicate with processor like cells to finally a microprocessor. It was a crude method back then. Seems today that the possibility is nearly around the next corner.
