I'm using XP Pro x64 and every driver I need is available to me.

If you use XP and have 4GB of RAM and a 512MB video card you will only be able to use 3584MB of memory. XP and Vista 32-bit editions can only use a combined 4GB of memory (that includes your video card). Yes it uses your video card RAM it takes away from the available system RAM.

That's right you can't actually use it all. :-\. Good news is oblivion with QTP3 ULTRA res pack, and about 10 other mods is the most ram I use at once.
Oblivion with all mods at 1680x1050 with 16xAA (forced in drivers) 16x AF, ATI Advanced AA, mipmap high, and advanced AF. While listening to music on media monkey and fraps. I still only use 2.00GB of ram.
The most ram I ever use is when I'm photoshopping raw pics and that still only comes out to about 2.75-3.1GB of ram. And that's a HUGE picture with a ton of layers.

I thought it just capped you at your system ram and then subtracted your video card ram. For example if I open up my computer properties I have 3.25GB of ram. And if I have a video card of 896MB I'd have 3.25 still. But 896MB would be my video card. If not and it adds together that would be awesome.

I could be wrong but I don't think I takes away from your video RAM. It seems like if it did that then you would run into all kinds of problems when trying to play a game. Any RAM experts here to enlighten us?
