Hey all,
How hot does the core i7 920 run when it is not OC'd? Going to be building a rig with it, and the persom I am building it for is worried about heat issues.
Thanks,
Tekgek

Well that is the CPU we use for our heat sink roundups... http://www.legitreviews.com/article/979/1/
It is a 130W TDP processor, so it does get pretty warm on the factory heat sink that comes in the retail boxed versions.
So here you go:

Pickup the Xigmatek A1283 from Newegg. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... &Tpk=S1283 Guaranteed to keep it cooler than the factory HSF and it doesn't break the bank.

You definitely should use an aftermarket cpu cooler for a core i7. Those suckers can give off a lot of heat under load.

Thanks, guys. I picked up a Zalman CNPS 9700. People who use those seem to get really good results. Just curious, do the other core i7's get even hotter?
