Yeah, Stalin.
But not Obama. Obama reminds me more of Carter. The best of intentions, but the worst of understanding what it is that makes America great. Marxism failed. National Socializm failed. Only Imperialism and Republican Captilolism have stood the test of time.
When I say Republican Capitolism I'm not refering to the Republican Party, but the republic based political system, i.e. the representative democracy where we elect people to enact laws on our own behalf.
Re: Sarah Palin - 'Told Ya So' Interview Tonight
Good point Skip, I never looked at it that way.
I think, as long as we have people in government like Palin socialism would fail again.

Re: Sarah Palin - 'Told Ya So' Interview Tonight
It amazes me how out of control Obama is whith spending. There was a heading on the news last night saying Obama plans to speed up his stimulus spending. SPEED UP?!? I'm glad we have term limits on presidents but I still worry about how much damage Obama is going to do considering he hasn't even been in office for a year. All these programs, health care, bailouts have to be paid for somehow which means we can all expect taxes to go up - I'm sure that will help the economy ](./images/smilies/eusa_wall.gif)

Re: Sarah Palin - 'Told Ya So' Interview Tonight
What's very interesting to me about this whole ordeal is the intese renewal of the "States Rights" debate. For those of us who are students of history you may recall THIS is what caused the Civil War, not just the slavery issue as modern day PC history books would have you believe.
The Civil War was a conflict over the federal government impossing it's laws on states that did not want them. Now history has proven that indeed the Northern states were right in that freedom is the right of all men and women regardless of color, gender, or creed. But the war was still over the Federal Governments intervention in what was, at that time, a states rights issue.
Now we're repeating the argument again, but this time over something the American Nation is very familiar with... "Taxation without Representation". The Federal Government has become a mockery of what our founding fathers intended. Thomas Jefferson was a plantation owner, not a career politician. Samual Adams was a brewer and printer, not a career politician. George Washington was a solider, not a career politician.
With the advent of the "career politician". We've traded "devine right" and nobility for a body of elected people basically operating under the same premise. The fact we only have two major political parties is proof enough of that. We've basically adopted lines off sucession, just without the heridity.

Re: Sarah Palin - 'Told Ya So' Interview Tonight
Also consider that the money paid to the politician was supposed to be a supplement to their respective businesses and occupations and never intended as a primary source of income. These modern guys contribute absolutely nothing to the GDP.
Housing:
Now my next concern is all these projects that Obama Co. has in store for us. So how many new government jobs (and research grants and what not) will be created to support all of these programs? Obviously tax dollars will be funding this. Already the mortgage interest rates are going back up, I'm sure to fund this. Now here's were I have a big F'n problem. So those of us who aren't dreamy eyed about getting into a house that we can't afford and take the time to read the fine print in the contract and pay our freaking mortgage on time are once again the ones who will be targeted. Yes, mortgage rates go up and down, that is common. But I think in the next year or two they will really go up. So the people who got into their ARM loans, and then got in way over their heads will get federal relief. The lenders who lent all of these loans were either bought out by larger banks or received some form of aid. Now what about the rest of us? The ones who got loans that we could realistically afford? And moving forward the lending is going to tighten and the interest rates will go up. So if you are deemed "stable" then you will be paying (again) for those who are not.
Filler:
Once again the perception that the government is around to take care of us scares the hell out of me. So many people rely on the government that they just let this crap go on and even encourage it. "Oh poor me, what will you do to save me?" Where's that American spirit of rolling up your sleeves and digging in and fixing your own problems? There are so many topics that this can hit I don't even know where to begin.
Guns:
Back to the gun issue which is one of my favorites. All of these anti-gun folks running around who think the police should be protecting them and that without guns there wouldn't be crime. So do you really want a police officer on every block in your community? Because that's what you're asking for. Oh yeah, I almost forgot about Obama and his comments about a separate police force for protecting the people...hmmmm, sounds familiar. How long does it take today for an officer to respond to a call? The police are there to pick up the pieces, period. That's not a knock on anyone who may read this, just an observation on my part. I have friends in law enforcement and highly respect what they do.
Oh, and let me get this straight, violent acts weren't committed prior to guns being around? So guns just fell out of the sky one day and people then started killing each other? Okay, wooops, boy did I have that wrong.
Someone shut me up:
Lots of bad stuff going on these days and the government is out of control. I'm still not clear why we sacked Iraq, then again we gave them at least six months notice before hitting them. That would be plenty of time to send stuff to Syria or wherever it ended up. Does anyone have a breakdown of what Bush spent in office compared to what Obama is spending? I'd like to see the trending on that one.
Geeze, if you read this far I'm sorry for how long it was. I hit several topics and probably could keep going. Sometimes it's nice to have a mini-rant and get a bit fired up.

Talking about term limits for president, what about the requirements for holding the office?

I seriously hope your joking about Barrack Obama not being a natural born citizen of the United States. The birth certificate has been showed enough and has been proven to be real. Please get your facts straight. The never of some people being brainwashed by Faux news. Sarah Palin is a washed up hypocrite who now faces increasingly difficult odds of running for President with her recent announcement of resigning later this month. Guess what new reports out today are pointing to a investigation into taking kickbacks. http://digg.com/d1veIk.Re: Sarah Palin - 'Told Ya So' Interview Tonight

Re: Sarah Palin - 'Told Ya So' Interview Tonight
Rather than the government owning GM, they should have just let it blow itself up since it could not remain in profitable business against the more efficient Japanese companies who figured out what Americans needed. On that point, I disagree with the government's actions to try and save jobs, they should have just let the free market take over.
As for other arguments, I can't agree or disagree with the consequences of the stimulus package until we see the results. Economists also argue over it. We do know that our economic crisis was as bad as the Great Depression, what we don't know is if the band-aid would hold or stabilize job losses.
I'm a little uncomfortable with the strong anti-Obama political tones. Obama has taken steps to hold the government accountable for what it spends, here's one such website that keeps track of it http://www.usaspending.gov/
You can't cut taxes permanently and keep funding the same programs either, something has to go and there are lobbyists out there trying to prevent their programs from losing funding either. That's a challenge for any president, but I wouldn't be quick to blame Obama. It's a particularly weak argument if you want to compare him to Bush and how much unaccountable spending went into the wars.
And that post turtle joke was made for Bush by the way, it's an old one. Someone just substituted Obama's name in there, I guess no one will ever be satisfied with a president when we are a red or blue country.
