Double Edge Shaving

Post by jakegub »

I recently converted to Double Edge shaving with a safety razor, and my first shave was blood-free and just as close as my Gillette Mach 3. It only has a single blade, but it shaves very close. I'm waiting on my badger hair brush for the full experience.

The handle cost me about $20 on ebay, which is obviously more expensive than the Mach 3, but the kicker is that you can get 100 double edge razors for about $10 and each of the razors can be flipped over once they are used and used again.

I don't shave in the shower anymore, but instead of shaving taking 5 min, it takes 10 minutes. The extra 5 minutes is well worth it in my opinion.

I like the ease of using a Mach3. Yes, the blades are damn expensive, but I don't have to change mine very often.

I use the Mach 3 still. For my head I used to use something called "the head blade" which was basically a single blade. These days I just use some clippers with no guard and call it good.

I use the Gillette Fusion...The Mach 3 was good but Fusion takes the cake, or the beard I should say..one of the few if not only razor that could cut this face without resorting to a weed-wacker..I blame genetics for that

I use the Gillette Fusion Power. So far the best razor I've found for me... I can't use an electric shaver else I have razor burn for two days. Even with the Fusion Power, I only shave roughly once a week to avoid razor burn... I could probably shave every 3 to 4 days, but there's the laziness factor in me. :)

Whats this razor you speak of

Dam razors a f'n expensive, I normally just cut it close with some clippers. I only shave for first couple dates, funerals, and job interviews... weddings are your fault why do I have to suffer too :finga: .

When I have to, its a mach 3.

They're called Double Edge Safety Razors. You buy the handle which can be expensive, but the blades are real cheap. You should look into it. It's a lot of fun.

You can search ebay for Safety Razor and it will bring up a bunch of small handles that you can use.

So this is the razor. You twist the handle and the top flips open. You put in one of the replacement razors, they're just about paper thin and bend to match the contour of the razor. The razor has 2 exposed sides of the blade, and you can turn the blade over and it actually has a second sharp side to it. I don't think they recommend reusing the "other side" of the blade, but I do.

'bout half the price of the Gillette Fusion! but the fusion is really nice to shave with. and a month old fusion cuts closer than a brand new mach3..

month old razor... I think I get 2 maybe 3 shaves out of a blade, then its dull and cuts the hell out of my face.

Just bought 3 more razors on ebay to try out. You can get used razors cheap and unlike the other razors, it doesn't matter how many people have used it before you because you replace the blades for CHEAP. Someone needs to read this, look on ebay for some safety razors and give it a shot.
