Out of stock again. Newegg is going to be playing this cat and mouse game for a week or two.HONkUS wrote:As of right now Gigabyte and XFX 5870's are in stock at Newegg
I'd suggest waiting a couple months before you buy this. The holiday season will bring lots of great deals!

Re: ATI Radeon HD 5870 DX11 Video Card Review
Getting this back on topic.
Nate, how much processing power do you REALLY need to push this card in a 2 way and 3 way Crossfire setup?
Doing some reading it seems that with the i5 and i7 platforms current GPU's are maxing out before the processor is. If that's the case is the same true of the 5870? What about multicard setups? Is i5 and i7 really needed for the high-end enthusiast gamer who wants to max out the performance of this card or is C2Q and the Phenom II 4x still enough to tap them out?
I ask this as there's no point building a machine for TODAY using parts that will remain unutilized. If 3D gaming is the number one reason for the machine why buy a processor that's never going to be maxed out when you can save budget and spend that on another GPU instead.

Seriously though, that's pretty sweet!
Deep in the human unconscious is a pervasive need for a logical universe that makes sense. But the real universe is always one step beyond logic.
