Hello i am building my own computer and i have bought the MSI K9N6PGM2 Motherboard.
I am now wondering wether or not it supports AM3 Socket. The box says AM3 Ready and AMD Phenom II x4 Ready.
I want the AMD Phenom II x4 Processor Model 965. which is 3.4GHZ.
Will the processor be compatible for my motherboard. If not which processor is recomended?

MSI K9N6PGM2-V2, micro ATX
Supported CPU Socket Type - AM3/AM2+/AM2
CPU Type - Phenom II / Phenom / Athlon II / Athlon64 /Sempron
For AM3 its a cheap, basic, no-frills board.

The processor will work in any am2+ or am3 board. Your board is am2+ but will support the proccessor. You will not see any difference switching to an am3 only board.
Not sure what you are after, speed, budget computing, quality etc. Your communication does not give too much away

Thanks for the replies.
Basically i am after speed and quality at a cheap price. I thought that the mobo would be a sweet one seeing as its compatible with AMD phenom II quad core.
With 3.4GHZ processor and 4GBs of ram this should be a decent gaming computer right...
The mobo has got a built in Nvidia graphcs card but i will be buying a new 1GB graphics card.
This is my first computer to build and sell, for my next one i think ill go with and intel mobo and get the i7 processor.
Does anyone no what model ram i would need i think its DDR2 667?
Also what do you think of the spec on the computer for gaming? And what price range will i be looking at when going to sell it?
Thanks Again People.

Re: MB and Processor Help!
The RAM speed depends on what the motherboard can support. Most presently released motherboards usually support DDR2 6400 800Mhz or faster. For a fast gaming rig, I'd recommend DDR2 PC-8500 1066MHz or better (DDR3), but again, it depends on the motherboard.
4GB is usually enough with some to spare.
