Stupid Question

Post by InspectahACE »

Don't laugh...I'm lookin at building a folding rig..but im trying to keep it as cost efficient as possible..and I'm wondering i can fold with 2 nvidia cards that are installed in an AMD chipset mobo. Considering SLI needs to be disabled(or nonexistent) to fold with multiple gpu's

I appreciate the info there spitter. Unfortunately it doesn't answer my question. To make it easy, I'd like to know if this board( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813131397 ) will let 2 of these( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 814121320R ) fold on it ...I already have a back up if this doesn't work(SLI based) but it's a tad more expensive. I just thought id see if I could save a few bucks since im not going to be gaming on it

Yes you should be able to run 2 nvidia cards on a amd chipset. I do it. You will not have access to sli but thats not what you are going for. I run dual 9800gtx's on a gigabyte amd board (GA-MA790X-DS4 (rev. 1.x)) and it works great for folding

My amd board would not fire up my 2 gso's, I would have thought that I might be able to get it to work with the drive hack, but one gso died before I could try.
