Thanks for the link, Joe! It makes me wonder if hybrid HDD/SSD drives might make sense. You could use a section of high-density memory as either some type of super-cache or primary storage and have that flank a "traditional" hard-drives platters to offer the data retention of a HDD and the speed of an SSD. If done right, even if the SSD part of it loses its data down the line, it could be refreshed by a saved part of the HDD.
