Black Friday 2009

Post by bmaverick »

Will there be any ripe deals this year?

Many of the so called leak sites are a mixed bag.

Wally's mart will be open on turkey day. That is not right.

Well, the deals I have seen so far have been mostly crappy - even at Best Buy.

Best Buy has the Nuvi 205w which last week had a REGULAR price of $159.99, now raised to $199.99, for $99.99 - it was on sale last week for like $116.99. So they raised the REGULAR price just to make the BF deal look good.

I think companies that do this crap should be fined to all hell! For every $.01 they raise the price to make a deal look good, they need to be fined $1,000,000 !

I saw some good deals on tv show dvd sets, but not much else. 32" LCD tvs are still around $400 which is what i got them for almost 2 years ago on sales at BF - sad.

I agree. I have yet to see a Black Friday deal yet that makes me stand up and take notice.

Funny you mention 32" LCD's...I just picked one up for $328.99. The very next day they went up to $399. Not a great deal, but still not bad. I was hoping to get Bing Cashback on top of that, but the item was excluded.

My uncle worked at Meijer's during the 2008 BF sale day. If you got in the door after 1am you got the deal. Much of their good stuff was sold out before the crack of dawn.

RS has SanDisk 2GB microSD Memory Cards for $5

Staples has the Seagate 1TB External Desktop Hard Drive for $70

Kmart has a Sylvania 7" Portable DVD Player for $49, TomTom XL GPS Navigation System (2 Day Sale) $99, Coby 7" Digital Picture Frame $30

Costco has a coupon system going for much of their sales. SanDisk Memory Cards - Up to 50% OFF (Coupon), with many other sales

Not many other sales interest me. I gota good LCD monitor. The prices for 20 inches are under $99.

I don't think there are any have-to-have items this year, and with the amount of great online deals it is hard to find the energy to get up early, find parking, and navigate the zombies to get deals on stuff I don't feel strongly about. If i'm going to spend my day off, I want to get something I feel like I can't live without.
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 3.0GHz
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R
2x1gb G.Skill DDR2-800 4-4-3-5
eVGA 8800GT SC with Akimbo cooling Kit
WinXP Pro
Dell 2405fpw @1920x1200

I'm following the BF threads on the various deal sites but I have yet to see anything that would make me get up so early and wait outside for hours in the cold. Just not worth it to me. The one thing I saw this year was that laptop Walmart was selling for like $278, it was pretty damn nice for under $300. It was a pre-BF sale too.

Wanted to update

Wally World ad is out there - it is the BEST ad I have seen! $2 dvds, $10 bluray (harry potter anyone), 32" lcd for $248 !!!!

I cant believe it but this year it seems Wally World is actually going to stomp on some people - now lets see if they have more than 2 of the awesome deals in stock at each store ;)

The Toshiba 32" 720p LCD I ordered through Tiger arrived damaged, so I had it returned. They put in the RA as a refund instead of exchange (I honestly don't know why), so now I may be looking for another. Keep this thread posted if you find one for less than $329.
