NVIDIA GeForce GF100 Fermi Video Card Facts

Post by Apoptosis »

These are all little pieces of info that NVIDIA has released on facebook or twitter:

GF100 is the codename for the first GeForce GPU based on the Fermi architecture!
The GF100 board is 10.5-inches long -- the same length as GeForce GTX 200 Series graphics cards!
GF100 packs in over 3B (billion!) transistors
The GF100 supports full hardware decode on the GPU for 3D Blu-Ray
GF100 graphics cards will provide hardware support for GPU overvoltaging for extreme overclocking!
GF100 supports a brand new 32x anti-aliasing mode for ultra high-quality gaming!
GeForce GTX 480 and GeForce GTX 470 will be the names of the first two GPUs shipped based on our new GF100 chip

NVIDIA informed me this afternoon that those slides have been faked. I haven't even seen any performance slides for what it is worth as the card is still a ways out.

Me too, I felt disappointed when I saw those slides. Thanks for letting us know that those are fakes BTW.

I may not ever be able to afford these but that doesn't mean I can't hump the air around them.

Personally i didn't think those slides were too disappointing. I just think if they're going to straight say they're fake that quick, they better show greater results when they do release them

the only difference i notice between 8x and 16x is the performance hit, generally cant tell visually

the Fermi cards must have the power to run high quality games at that setting tho...i'd hope

lolz! Guess they have to keep the 300 series available for re-branded parts.

Curious whether 480 will be a 512sp and 470 will be 448sp or if 480 is the 448sp part and 470 is some other chip (gf104?)

Interesting how it's 4xx instead of 3xx. Will 3xx be reserved for lower-end and rebranded cards? I'm excited about the anti-aliasing that they have. Now that their implementation of anti-aliasing is more efficient, I'm hoping to use it in more games (then again, if I had a 4xx card, I'd already have enough power to run all my games at high anti-aliasing modes even without more efficient implementations). Anti-aliasing makes quite the difference.
