My problem is not power...I have lost power at our house probably twice in the last 5 years.(the joy of living in a area that sells power to the states) My comps have been running 24/7 for 3 years now and I think they are getting tired.

Tecate and

I am beginning to think all this isnt worth it. ](*,) I have 25 servers running 24/7 doing this and i cant even reach half that. ~15 of the servers are dual quad cores running 2x SMP clients. On top of which the SMP clients are failing left and right on almost all the boxes (you can see my points are taking a major hit!!). I mean, I am super glad to help out, but i have to keep a constant eye on all the clients to see if they are getting stuck at 100% or 0% or not. It was fun creating bash scripts to help out, but no amount of googling and trying has helped thus far.

You should be able to FAHMON to all the servers provided they are networked and are reachable file systems

Are they the dual quad with HT? You might get better points with the bigadv folding. if you're going to start smp with bigadv then today is last last realistic day to start it for most peoples ' rigs.

you will need to add "-smp 8" and remove "advmethods". if you can't manage the smp 8 then it will probably not be worth it for you to try bigadv.

on my XP x64 folders I currently run a vmware linux session and fold with -smp 8 -bigadv for options. If you run the way i do make sure the vmware session is allocated 8 cores to use before starting it. also allocate 6gb of ram if you can. for the machines that have only 6gb i allocate 4.5gb. they seem to do ok. i also have other items to deal with on my folders and so limit the ram for the vmware. your mileage may vary.

nice job billabong- just got a WU in to keep him alive for a CPU - from the looks of it he needs it. *on that note - shutting down most of the PC's running at my place.. electric bill for last month was $160 and that was for only a week or so of the contest. If i had a job and wasnt going thru school it would be a different story.
