Alienware Laptops

Post by techking13 »

Does anyone know if Alienware laptops are any good? I can get a discount on them through Dell, but I want to know if they are worth buying. Thoughts?

they're basically too expensive for 80% of users for what they have inside, similar to most prebuilt systems. they have a lot more hype than most companies though for how much market share they have

i'd only *start* to consider one if i had a spare $2k i had nothing to spend on

do you plan to game on it constantly?

they used to be the ultimate laptop, money no object type of thing, personally if i had the money i would take a look at one of the new 3D gaming laptops....Acer and Asus are the ones that have them i believe.

I guess I'm getting a consensus that they're not worth it. Thanks.

You never answered an earlier poster's question. Are you using this as a gaming PC? Do you have a desktop computer that you game on? What is your sole intention for buying a laptop in the first place?

It is relevant to the point that It's maybe not worth spending 2000 on a laptop but instead buy a decent 750 buck desktop for gaming purpose and 750 for a decent laptop and save 500.
These days it's possible, to bad I can't miss a coin.

Or, buy a cheap desktop Dell, HP, etc... and purchase a real video card and have someone install it. The 9800GT which is still a very good video card is only $100.

Most of the time their Power supply units aren't that great, It's recommended you cheap that first, because some of those desktops with integrated grapical processor might have no 6-pin connector.
Check that first. ;D

*Edit: Let alone the power itself.

I would agree with the fact that Alienware Laptops are WAY overrated. If you are not the richest person in the world and are looking for an excellent gaming laptop have a look at this http://www.gateway.com/systems/series/5 ... av_pseries I have one of the older versions and it runs games like Crysis Warhead almost as fast as my desktop (See sig for desktop stats)!
